Non-lethal Predator Deterrent Innovations to Save Animals

Our Mission

Welcome to GuardUs Innovations, a newly- formed company committed to bringing the next generation of non-lethal predator deterrents to market. Our core mission is to protect animals, both domestic and wild. If we can better protect livestock from depredation, our wild predators, in turn, will also gain safety. We are focusing on the most intelligent predators and the most difficult-to-defend pastures (10,000+ acres) for maximal impact. "Predators cause an estimated $232 million in losses to livestock producers annually." ~ USDA. We owe our producers, their animals, and our natural roaming predators better. And we will get there.

Project Status

We have assembled an exceptional engineering team that is currently focused on designing the first prototype to demonstrate efficacy. The design goal is to protect a variety of prey species from a variety of predator species. We also have direct access to collaborating livestock producers to test device efficacy. The goal is to start field testing within the next few months!

Product-Market Fit

We spent significant energy building an amazing community to deeply understand prey / predator dynamics and producer operations to nail the product-market fit.  Our concept iterated significantly as we gained deeper insight.  The current design direction has been stressed-tested from numerous perspectives from our key collaborators.

Pretty early for a Newsletter

Yes. The amount of interest in this program has been overwhelming (in the best of ways).  

Many promises were made to keep folks informed which, logistically, is too onerous outside of this format.

Are you Funded?

We are being incrementally funded, thanks to generous donations from individuals and organizations.

100% of donations go directly to product development.  Our founder is working pro bono and personally covering expenses to stretch funds further.

Meet the Founder

Carolyn has spent her 23 year career in research and product development.  She has a degree in biology and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering.

She is also the founder of a thriving 7-year old engineering consulting firm, Inspired Engineering, that specializes in taking great ideas to market.  

You can find her designs in operating rooms (custom surgical equipment) and in outer space (solar array deployable mechanisms).

Most importantly, Carolyn is an animal lover and is on a mission to positively impact the world, one animal at a time.
